This collection covers for the most part Robert Sanderson McCormick's diplomatic careers in Vienna, St. Petersburg, and Paris. These papers will be of value to scholars interested in business history of the 1870s and 1880s, and in diplomatic conditions and negotiations of the period 1901-1907. Of particular interest are papers relating to the Russo-Japanese war, which afford glimpses of the political, diplomatic and social conditions of the times.

Abstract

The Mediterranean Shipping and Trading Company, Ltd., was founded on November 12, 1933 in Tel-Aviv, and operated until 1957 or possibly later. The company shipped the major export crop of the period, oranges, to Greece, Egypt, and other Middle Eastern countries. Company records include a letter book containing annual general meeting minutes and stock transfer notices, and a financial ledger that specifies the number of shares held by each of the company's stockholders.
